Used cooking oil and household organic waste remain two types of domestic waste that are inadequately managed at the household level, including in Pakopen Village, Bandungan District, Semarang Regency. Improper disposal of used cooking oil pollutes soil and water bodies and poses health risks when reused for cooking, while accumulating kitchen organic waste generates odor and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions when it ends up in final disposal sites. This community service activity aimed to empower the people of Pakopen Village through two innovations: processing used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles and applying LOSEDA (Lodong Sisa Dapur), a composting method using repurposed water gallon containers for kitchen organic waste. The method consisted of problem identification, socialization, training and hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation, with data collected through observation, documentation, and brief interviews involving [isi dengan data lapangan] residents and PKK cadres of Pakopen Village. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in processing used cooking oil into economically valuable aromatherapy candles and in constructing LOSEDA as a simple composting solution from repurposed gallon containers. Both innovations have the potential to reduce household waste volume, support environmental cleanliness, and open household-scale business opportunities. This activity is considered effective as a model of community-based waste management that is simple, low-cost, and easily replicable in other hamlets or villages, while also supporting the achievement of SDGs Desa, particularly the goal of an environmentally conscious village.
