Community Empowerment through Health Education as an Effort to Control Tuberculosis in Ujung Tanah Village

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem that requires active community involvement in prevention and early detection. This Community Field Practice (PBL) II activity aimed to improve community understanding and awareness of TB and support prevention, early detection, and treatment adherence. The activity was conducted in Ujung Tanah Village, Samadua Subdistrict, South Aceh Regency, using a participatory approach. Activities included door-to-door pulmonary infection screening of 60 respondents, TB education and seminars, education for junior high school students, community exercise, poster distribution, and treatment assistance through treatment supporters. The results showed that screening provided an initial overview of pulmonary infection symptoms and risk factors, while education and health promotion provided information on TB symptoms, transmission, prevention, early detection, and the importance of regular treatment. Collaboration with health workers also supported treatment monitoring. Community empowerment through education, screening, and treatment assistance can support TB control efforts in Ujung Tanah Village.
